The world of scent has always fascinated me. Even as a child, I was sensitive to smells: the scent of rain after a hot day, tree resin, the smell of pipe tobacco that reminds me of my father. Scent evokes memories, emotions, images. It tells stories without using words.
Some time ago, I dove deeper into the history of fragrance. How did people use scent in the past?
As it turns out, in the 17th century people wore scented jewelry: pomanders. These were mostly worn by the wealthy to mask unpleasant odors.
As a jewelry designer, I was immediately inspired. Scent is made up of molecules: tiny particles that, when combined, can create an endless variety of aromas.
Much like how I work with forms, materials, and ideas.
